Automotive wiring harness definition !
July 27, 2025
The automotive wiring harness is the main network of the automotive circuit. After the contact terminal (connector) made of copper is crimped with the wires and cables, the insulator is plastic-pressed or the metal shell is added to the outside, and the wiring harness is bundled to form a component that connects the circuit. It is like the human body's nervous and vascular system, connecting various electrical and electronic components of the car, realizing energy transfer and information exchange, and ensuring the normal operation of various functions of the car.
Components
1. Wires: including power lines, signal lines, and ground lines, etc., used to transmit current or signals. Automotive wires are generally copper multi-core soft wires, which are soft and not easy to break, and can adapt to vibration and bending during the driving process of the car.
2. Connectors: such as fuses, relays, switches, sockets, terminals, etc., used to connect or disconnect lines to realize the on-off control and protection functions of the circuit.
3. Connectors: Connect different types of wires together to form a complete circuit system to ensure reliable connection and signal transmission between wires.
4. Fixing devices: such as clips, buckles, cable ties, etc., are used to fix the position of the wiring harness to prevent it from loosening or moving during the driving of the vehicle, and ensure the stability and safety of the wiring harness.
Function
Energy transmission: Provide power for various electrical equipment of the car, such as the engine, starter, headlights, air conditioners, etc., to ensure that they can work normally.
Signal transmission: Transmit various control signals and sensor signals, such as vehicle speed signals, engine speed signals, temperature signals, steering signals, etc., so that the electronic control system of the car can monitor and control the operating status of the vehicle in real time.
Circuit protection: Through fuses, relays and other devices, the circuit is protected from overload and short circuit to prevent electrical equipment from being damaged due to excessive current, and also avoid the occurrence of safety hazards such as fire.
Realize functional integration: Connect the various electrical components of the car together to realize the integration and collaborative work of various functions, such as automatic headlights, automatic wipers, smart key systems, navigation systems, etc., to improve the comfort and intelligence of the car.
